RIVERSIDE – Chamber members will meet California Secretary
of Education Bonnie Reiss at the Chamber’s Legislative Summit on October 15 at
the Riverside Convention Center. Reiss advises the
Governor on all educational issues from preschool through higher education.
At the summit, Chamber members
will also hear from Riverside’s legislative representatives, Senator Bob
Dutton, and Assemblymembers Kevin Jeffries and Brian Nestande. They will
discuss the latest issues impacting employers and the region’s economy.
“The Chamber is a leading advocate for education reform and
preparing the 21st century workforce to successfully compete in the
global economy. In the current economic climate, the Chamber is focused on job
recovery for today's workers while preparing the future workforce,” commented
Chamber President/CEO Cindy Roth.
“We are pleased that Secretary
Reiss will be the keynote speaker the Legislative Summit, and that she will get
closer insight to our region’s education and workforce issues” concluded Roth.
This year, the summit is held in partnership with FACE – the
Federation for a Competitive Economy, a two-county coalition of education,
business, government, and community groups focused on improving student’s
academic achievement.
The Legislative Summit is a luncheon open to Chamber members
at $45 per seat, or $360 for a table for eight. $55 for non-members or
prospective members.
Member businesses are invited to become promotional sponsors
of the summit where nearly 300 people are expected to attend.
